I'm a Lebanese living in Italy, I left lebanon more then 10 years ago, yesterday I did a search online for my name and I noticed that I got sentenced to more then 25 years in jail and a lot of money to pay,my question is it allowed to post my full name in a news paper and ruin my reputation for something that I didn't do, plus that the news paper announced my full name (first name / father name/family name, i'm asking cause I'm used to hear about people on TV & news papers but they used the initials of the person never the full name, what I wanted to know, can I sue the news paper for announcing my full name in public? Please anyone help me to know if I can sue the newspaper or not, thanks for any help in advance

Mr Youssef, I think they can use your full name since as you are telling you have been sentenced and not anymore the first steps of case (investigation and proof). When sentence is announced to public... (نحكم باسم الشعب اللبناني) anyone can tell your full name. But better ask as well another lawyer since I am not anymore working criminal cases.

Dear Mr. Ghoche,

In addition to what the colleague said, a publication in the newspaper is one of the penalties of all criminal provisions, and by order of the judiciary, so you cannot sue the newspapers,
It is clear that a default judgment, and therefore you must provide a retrial to prove your innocence
